Burrow: Gopherspace Explorer for Chrome
Burrow is a Chrome extension that allows users to easily navigate Gopherspace sites. Gopher, the predecessor of the World Wide Web, offers a simpler and cleaner browsing experience compared to modern websites. While Gopher sites may appear dated to today's users, there is still a community of Gopher enthusiasts who run servers and maintain Gopher sites.
Burrow aims to make Gopher access and navigation possible for Chrome users. Currently, the extension rewrites all gopher:// links to point to Floodgap's Public Gopher Proxy. It is important to have JavaScript enabled for the extension to function properly.
As an open-source project released under the MIT license, Burrow encourages community contributions and provides its source code on GitLab. The latest version (v0.5) addresses an issue where a new installation screen would appear after a browser update.
Explore the nostalgic world of Gopherspace with Burrow and experience a different kind of browsing experience right from your Chrome browser.
